I remember thinking to myself several years ago…I wonder if there’s a place to store potential outfits, crafts, dream libraries, and delicious desserts all in one place for future use. Oh wait, there is! It’s Pinterest. And it’s the perfect place to keep all of your ideas, hopes, dreams, and bulletin board inspiration. It’s organized by tags and categories so you can search for specific things such as grilled zucchini recipes or DIY bathroom renovations. You can then “pin” those ideas or inspiration to boards grouped together by a larger theme, such as Lunch or Party Decor. I primarily use Pinterest for personal use but it has also been really helpful professionally. Libraries may also be able to reap the benefits from the platform for planning and programming purposes. It can be a great help when organizing your ideas for a book display or to check out what other libraries have done for Banned Books week. By posting your ideas on the public platform, you can add to the community of library programming inspiration and help other librarians out as well. Need help with this?
